John Fiore
John Fiore is a distinguished conductor known for his musicality and expertise, having held prominent positions such as Music Director of the Norwegian Opera and Ballet (2009-2015) and the Deutsche Oper am Rhein (1999-2009). His international acclaim includes leading the Metropolitan Opera’s premiere of Dvořák’s Rusalka and the first complete Wagner Ring cycle in Prague since WWII. Fiore’s early start in music saw him working as a pianist and répétiteur at the Seattle Opera by age 14, and later assisting maestros like Zubin Mehta, Daniel Barenboim, and Leonard Bernstein.
Fiore’s debut in 1986 with Gounod’s Faust at the San Francisco Opera launched a global career, conducting at major houses such as the Bavarian State Opera, Semperoper Dresden, and the Grand Théâtre de Genève. His repertoire spans Wagner, Strauss, Ravel, Stravinsky, and Ligeti. Fiore’s symphonic collaborations include the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande. Since 2015, he has enjoyed a freelance career, remaining a sought-after guest conductor in Europe and the U.S., and currently resides in Geneva.
