Komitas (1869–1935) was a visionary Armenian composer, musicologist, medievalist, ethnographer-folklorist, choirmaster, singer, and poet. Recognized as the founder of the Armenian national tradition of art music, his groundbreaking work and artistic legacy have profoundly shaped the history of Armenian music, playing a vital role in defining the Armenian national identity.
