Ji Wei

Ji Wei (吉炜) is one of China’s most acclaimed Guzheng musicians and a Professor at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing. Renowned for her expressive artistry and virtuosic technique, she has performed nearly 100 solo concerts worldwide in prestigious venues such as Lincoln Center, Royal Albert Hall, and the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing.

Her collaborations span major international orchestras and festivals, including the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, China Philharmonic, BBC Music Festival, and Europalia Arts Festival. Ji Wei is also a pioneer in contemporary Guzheng repertoire, integrating the instrument with Western ensembles and pushing its artistic boundaries.

A recipient of China’s Golden Record Award for Best Performer—the only Guzheng player to achieve this honor—she continues to shape the future of the instrument through innovation, education, and global performance.
