MARKO MIMICA

Croatian bass baritone Marko Mimica, born in 1987, has established a remarkable career since attending the Rossini Academy in 2014, where he performed as Lord Sidney in Il viaggio a Reims. He returned to the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro in 2015 and 2016, playing the Podestà in La gazza ladra and Douglas in La donna del lago. As a member of the Deutsche Oper ensemble in Berlin (2011-2016), Mimica’s repertoire included roles such as Raimondo in Lucia di Lammermoor, Don Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Talbot in Maria Stuarda, Escamillo in Carmen, Frate Lorenzo in I Capuleti e i Montecchi, and Colline in La bohème.

Mimica has performed in major opera houses worldwide, including the Deutsche Oper in Berlin, Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Royal Opera House in Muscat, and Teatro Regio in Turin. Notable roles include Alfonso d’Este in Lucrezia Borgia, Mustafà in L’italiana in Algeri, and Banco in Macbeth. Recent performances span across prestigious venues, with roles in I puritani and Luisa Miller in Barcelona, Il barbiere di Siviglia in Amsterdam, La forza del destino in Modena and Berlin, and Anna Bolena in Liège. Marko Mimica graduated from the Academy of Music in Zagreb and has been recognized as a finalist in the Cardiff Singer of the World competition in 2013, further cementing his status as a prominent figure in the opera world.
