Sonia Fortunato

Sonia Maria Fortunato graduated with honours from the Accademia di Brera and the Accademia Teatro alla Scala in Milan as well as the Fausto Torrefranca Conservatoire in Vibo Valentia. She has also studied at the Giovanni Grasso Academy of Dramatic Arts in Catania (acting in Trivial at the Charlie Chaplin Theatre in Catania), the Accademia della Voce in Turin and the Accademia Verdi Toscanini in Parma.

 

Fortunato has won several awards at international competitions: second prize at the 13th Campi Flegrei national competition in Pozzuoli, first prize in the Rome Music Festival International Competition, third prize at the 5th Rinaldo Pelizzoni international competition in Sissa (Parma) and third prize at the Voci Del Mediterraneo competition in Siracusa. She is also a winner of the Danzuso Prize (2018).

Fortunato has performed the roles of Donna Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Donna Leonora in Salieri’s Prima la musica, poi le parole, Giovanna in Verdi’s Ernani, Pallade in Paride ed Elena by C. W. Gluck, Enna in the oratorio La Rosalia by A. Fortunato, Santuzza in Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana, Fatima in Bellini’s Zaira, Pantea in Il Carceriere Del Vento by A. Fortunato and the title role in Bizet’s Carmen as well as the Stabat Mater by Rossini.
